Contractors supporting U.S. Department of War contracts received important guidance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In a recent ruling, CBP confirmed that supplies designated as “emergency war materials” by the Department of War qualify for duty-free entry without further CBP review. This clarification streamlines the import process and reinforces CBP’s deference to military department certifications under DFARS and HTS provisions.
